Sips, Strings, and a Full-Circle Moment at Meow Wolf Denver

Two years ago, working with Meow Wolf was just a goal.
Now, they’re one of my favorite clients.

There’s something about stepping into Convergence Station that immediately shifts your perspective. It’s immersive, unexpected, and just the right amount of surreal, which makes it the perfect setting for events that push beyond the ordinary.

Sips (with a Z), Meow Wolf Denver’s cocktail lounge, is one of those spaces. And for Sips and Strings, they took things even further.

Where Mixology Meets Music

In collaboration with the Colorado Symphony, this event brought Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 “Eroica” to life in a way that felt completely new. Each movement of the symphony was paired with a custom cocktail, creating a multi-sensory experience that blended sound, taste, and atmosphere.

Guests were guided through the evening by live musicians who introduced each piece with insight before performing excerpts in real time. From bold, dramatic openings to a triumphant, emotional finish, the entire night unfolded like the symphony itself.

It wasn’t just something you watched or listened to, it was something you felt.

Capturing the Atmosphere

When Meow Wolf asked me to photograph the event for their marketing team, I was immediately in.

But this shoot came with a challenge: no flash, low light, and a fully immersive environment where the experience couldn’t be interrupted. It meant dialing in my camera settings, trusting my instincts, and embracing the mood of the space rather than trying to control it.

And honestly, those are the moments I love most.

The glow of the cocktails, the movement of the musicians, the layered textures of light and shadow; everything worked together to create images that feel as alive as the event itself.

Creative Energy You Can’t Fake

This was my third shoot with Meow Wolf, and every time it’s the same energy: creative, collaborative, and a little bit unpredictable in the best way.

It’s the kind of environment that pushes you to think differently, to see differently, and to create work that goes beyond just documenting a moment.

Instead, it becomes about translating a feeling.

The Final Result

The goal was to give the Meow Wolf marketing team imagery that reflects the true essence of their space: fun, colorful, immersive, and effortlessly cool.

And this time, it all came together in a way that feels really special.

From a goal two years ago to a growing creative partnership, this shoot was a reminder of how far things collaborations can come, and how much magic can happen when the right people, place, and energy align.
